Eco-Pesa is a complementary currency program run by Eco-Ethics, a Kenya-based NGO. For the past 8 years, Eco-Ethics has created new ways of living in harmony with the natural world. The Eco-Pesa program targets both environmental conservation and economic development, and therefore provides a powerful and holistic community development model. The goal of the Eco-Pesa program is to make sure that development funds remain in the community, where they can help build the economy in an environmentally conscious way. Nyumbani Organization is a Kenya-based NGO. NewDay Africa supports Nyumbani Organization's Nyumbani Village project. Nyumbani Village is a sustainable community located east of Nairobi in the Kitui District. In the village, orphaned children and elders, both left behind by Africa's "Lost Generation," support and nurture each other for the betterment of the community and the ecological environment.
